With a musical journey that began at the tender age of five, Duncan has blossomed into a formidable force within Michigan’s jazz scene. His education at Western Michigan University, culminating in a Bachelor of Music in piano and jazz studies, laid a robust foundation for a career marked by versatility and excellence.

Over the years, Duncan has shared the stage with an array of musical legends, including Jon Hendricks, Aretha Franklin, Rodney Whitaker, and Marcus Belgrave, to name a few. His collaboration extends to groups like Johnnie Bassett & the Blues Insurgents and The Paul Keller Orchestra, showcasing his adaptability across genres. Notably, Duncan's solo work is captured in his own CD release, contributing to an impressive discography that highlights his collaboration with many notable artists.

Beyond performance, Duncan's expertise as a musical director and arranger is recognized far and wide. His arrangements have graced the performances of The Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Jazz Orchestra, among others. His work extends to regional theaters, church organizations, and local bands, enriching Michigan's musical landscape.

Duncan's dedication to music education is evident in his role as an independent music instructor, where he teaches piano, improvisation, and composition. His early studies under Frederic Dehaven and later jazz piano and music theory education under luminaries like James Hohmeyer and Matt Michaels have profoundly influenced his teaching and performing approach.
